Facebook Stories – Zuckerberg celebrates 500000000 users

facebook ceo Facebook Stories Zuckerberg celebrates 500000000 usersFacebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced this Wednesday that the platform now has a half-billion active users, and to mark the event is providing a new service to let every user “tell their own story”. The newly dubbed “Facebook Stories” app will enable users around the globe to share their experiences, in particular (to loosely quote Zuckerberg’s bloggerazzi video statement) the impact of their Facebook connections on their lives. The interactive story-telling app lets users type their story directly into it which can then be seen by users via map-based location navigation, or clicking on mini icons in the list view. read more

Face recognition on Facebook

face rec Face recognition on FacebookFacebook has added an auto-recognition feature to its photo tagging service on user’s photos on Facebook. Instead of having to endure the tedious process of carefully placing a nice big tag square on your mother-in-laws forehead, users will now be spared by a feature that automatically recognises faces within the picture, based on detection technology that has been used in most modern cameras for the past few years and particularly customised by photo tech startup, Divvyshot, bought up by Facebook a few months ago. As with all new Facebook features, users will be able to edit their uploaded photos in a host of views and pages within the platform, and tags still need to be authorised, for those of you worrying about particular stag night quick shot blunders being broadcasted unwillingly throughout the homescreens of loved one’s and collagues. Readers interested in finding out more can follow the Facebook blog here, leave feedback about the service here, as well as have a look at Divvyshot’s homepage.
